Background

The Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia AIDS Research Centre (ARC) was officially founded in 2010 under the Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia Research and Community Service Centre.

PPH Unika Atma Jaya (ARC) was initiated as a contribution of Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia to respond towards the HIV-AIDS and drug problem in Indonesia through research, capacity building and community service.

PPH Unika Atma Jaya (ARC) in particular focuses on policy studies and social-behavior research related to HIV-AIDS, reproductive health and sexual health, and the role of civil society in health sector development.

PPH Unika Atma Jaya (ARC) also focuses on its role as centre for development of HIV-AIDS interventions for drug users, children and families affected by HIV-AIDS, and street children.

PPH Unika Atma Jaya (ARC) started as a collaborative project between Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia and University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) with support of Global Partnerships for Social Science AIDS Research U.S. National Institute of Health (US NIH) in 2007 to build capacity in the field of HIV-AIDS research.

PPH Unika Atma Jaya (ARC) has collaborated with various national, international, and government institutions in conducting research and interventions on HIV-AIDS among various populations and research topics.
